Feral Arts

VOTER WORK

DESCRIPTION

For more than fifteen years Sarah Moynihan and Norm Horton have been the coordinators of Feral Arts, a community cultural development organisation based in Brisbane, Australia. Feral Arts helps to build inclusive, sustainable and creative communities: "We act as go-betweens - linking the cultural interests and experiences of people on a local level with key government decision makers and business stakeholders." Feral Arts' focus is on rural and regional communities and on the potential for new technologies to enable local communities to better manage and share cultural histories. The work explores the layers of history and identity different people have with the same place including (traditional owners) farmers, miners and environmental groups. Sarah and Norm's program includes the development of a digital storytelling software and web database system - Place Stories - (www.placestories.com) which is currently being beta tested with partners in Australia and the US.
