What does home mean to you? In this theater piece was so riveting and popular last spring, that the Exchange is hosting a fresh version with revisions and in an updated form! home land security is a community arts performance project about life in Portland since September 11th. The show was written by the Obie award-winning playwright Marty Pottenger, from interviews and story circles with Portlanders. The play is performed by -- former Mayor Jill Duson, Children's Librarian & State Senate President Beth Edmonds, Reverend Virginia Marie Rincon, Fire Chief Fred Lamontagne, Sudanese leader Oliver Albino, Micmac leader Heather Augustine, noted French Canadian fiddler Lucien Mathieu, Billy Woolverton, a writer who is currently homeless, and Rachel Talbot Ross, President of the N.A.A.C.P. Portland Chapter.

Our goal is to collaboratively create an artistic response to a continuing crisis and to address with intelligence, nuance and humanity, concerns that are shared in the national arena. These are not new questions, but our responses will determine the direction of the United States for generations to come. It only makes sense that art - with it transformative power and imaginative reach - would be a part of keeping community leaders and ordinary citizens central.
