Democracy Matters Institute

VOTER WORK

Democracy Matters informs and engages college students and communities in efforts to strengthen our democracy. With campus-based chapters throughout the country, DM focuses on the issue of private money in politics and other pro-democracy reforms. DM encourages the emergence of a new generation of reform-minded leaders.

DESCRIPTION

The Democracy Matters Institute, Inc. is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It's mission is to work on campuses and communities to educate people about campaign finance reform and other pro-democracy reforms.

We think that money in politics is why there is so little voter participation -- people think their voice doesn't count. We approach the issue of participation through our focus on creating a more democratic system through public financing that would increase people's confidence in the system and their participation.
